Homeless again,because I trusted the wrong people

The landlord kept telling me she would work with me and help me...then today when I went to go sign the lease, she left a note saying to return my key.All the stuff i just got (a dresser for me and my baby,a chair,some toys,even her new toys from christmas, my court papers,my wallet with my food card,and more) are all locked inside with almost all of our clothes, because she changed the locks. I contact our District Judge and nothing by law can be done because we had verbal agreements NOTHING in writting. I am so hurt, but I learned a leasson, and the leasson is you cant trust everyone.
Im back to square one with even less than what I had before. I cant even think to write, right now. I did have some info to share with others in my situation, but Im not thinking straight, I will update later.

Ok here is my Update, so ANYONE reading this keep this in mind (exspecially if you live in PA.)
If you have No Lease,but you are and have been living in the resident that you plan to rent,(but landlord hasnt brought you a lease to sign-DO NOT PAY RENT until you have a lease),if asked to leave because you "refused to pay rent" you can claim squatters Rights if asked to leave,that will give you 30 business days at least to find a new place to move to.(also CHANGE the locks so your landlord cant lock you out when your not home,if locked out without a lease THE LAW CANNOT Protect you or your belongings.)
If you have a lease in the winter if you are pregnant,elederly,special needs, or have children a Landlord CAN NOT evict you without taking you to court,and in most cases the landlord will have to allow you to live there til spring/summer & in some cases you may not have to pay rent while there,Also a landlord cannot terminate utilities if included in your rent.

in the state of Pennsylvania we have a squaters Rights Law, which IF i would have been physically living there I could have stayed without a lease.She would have had to file a lwa suite to remove me and it takes a minimum of 30 buisness days to get an eviction for squatters. However there was a flea infestation and im allergic to fleas so I was not living there I went every day trying to clean it.Which the landlord claimed she would take it off my rent, but now she is signing a differant tune.She is claiming I refuesed to pay the Security Deposite Plus first&last month rent, that I brought the fleas in, that I had Cats in there,and that I made the stove and fridge all scummy and nasty. (well the fridge I got cleaned and all the light globes i cleaned amd took pix of the before & after.)
I spoke with our DJ again and she said sense no laws protect my stuff & I have no proof its mine,the only thing I can do is mail my medical bills endured from that place in exchange for my stuff or the landlord can pay my medical bills.Monday morning I have to take my medical bills to the DJ's office and she will attach theletter explaining the reason she is being requested to return my stuff or pay my bills,then she call the landlord to come pick a copy up and mail a copy to her.Even if the landlord returns my stuff the D.J said I still have the right to sue her to pay my medical bills.

Hi Pittsburgmomma, First you are right you can't really trust anyone and any time a landlord says that they will work with you get it in writing ALWAYS. Second she in not allowed to keep your stuff. Call the landlord and make arrangements to pick it up and tell you will be bringing the police. Then call the police on that day and have them meet you there. I hope this helps

Hello and I am sorry. What is her problem? If she is renting out places there should be a written contract. I would really look into that. That is a shame. I am so sorry as things were going well. Check with your local Salvation Army for emergency housing. I am just in shock.
Can you stay with anyone? Do look into the laws there as you should be able to get your things. I was suppose to be able to get the rest of my things from mom's house and did a little bit but the jerk paralegal from my sister's attorney didn't want to come out again to let me in so I lost a lot of things. The legal system sucks, sorry.
